Remembering Big John

Big John

**Sneaky Dee’s will be closed from 11am-5pm on Thursday, February 5.**

We’re saddened to share that our dear friend, Big John, has passed away.

Big John took care of Dee’s and not because it was his job as head of security. He genuinely cared about each and every one of you. He will be missed by so many. We are not alone during this and have each other. Let’s remember the great moments he brought to our community together.

Now you see, there are very few people as special as Big John was. His love reached farther and wider than all of ours combined. He showed strength and positivity in the trickiest of moments. He bent over backwards to be a good person even when it wasn’t convenient.

He made you smile when you needed it. He did what he said he was going to do and when he said he was going to do it. He worked damn hard and with a smile always. He had high standards and never let them slip. He was consistent and always appreciative of the simple things. We have much to learn from Big John, and if he were here now for big bear hug, we’re sure he would say not to worry about him and that he’s good. Because that is just what he said, always. It is a huge loss to lose such a genuine man.

To Dee’s fans, if there is anything we can do to help – someone to talk to, someplace to go, somewhere to share memories – we’re there for you. Big John’s funeral and visitations will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre on 50 Overlea Boulevard in Toronto. Everyone in the Dee’s community is welcome. Full details:

First visitation: Wednesday, February 4th, 2015, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Second visitation: Wednesday, February 4th, 2015, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Funeral: Thursday, February 5th, 2015, 10:00am
At Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church – 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive

Our hearts go out to Big John. We’ll miss you, brother.

Sneaky Dee’s Customer Appreciation Night

Well.. it’s that time of year again. The crew here at Sneaky Dee’s truly feel lucky to be a part of the community that we’re in, and feel it’s only right that we give back. Sneaky Dee’s is stoked to host a customer appreciation night to top all other customer appreciation nights, on February 5th, for all of our friends.

Whether you’re a regular in the restaurant downstairs, the venue upstairs, or a little of both – we’re stoked to throw a big ass party in your honour! We have some great things planned this year and you can count on good friends,  live music (of course), and of course NO COVER. We have a few tricks up the ol’ sleeve as well, but you’ll have to wait for those.

Don’t worry we won’t leave you sitting around listening to cheesy elevator music, our friends Gold Complex will make sure you’re rockin’ and rollin’ all night long.

Sounds too good to be true? All you have to do is RSVP here. Here’s to starting the weekend early.

Thank you all for another great year, and an even better one to come.

Legends of Karaoke – Christmas Edition!

Admit it. You’ve been humming along to that one Mariah Carey holiday song alllll month. Lucky for you, Dee’s isn’t a place of shame!

All we want for the holidays is to see you up on the Legends of Karaoke stage, belting your heart out to whatever the hell gives you holiday cheer. It sure ain’t the Leafs right now.

Bring your ugliest singing and sweaters over here on Monday for a night you won’t forget! Or remember. See you punks out here soon!

Thanks for Supporting Brother!

We don’t often get mushy at Dee’s, so give us this one, ok?

We want to thank everyone who came out and supported Brother! on December 2. Whether you shows up, played, donated, volunteered – you helped our dear door man Big John during a real time of need. Cancer sucks.

You can still donate to help John battle cancer via PayPal: donate (at) sneaky-dees (dot) com.

If you weren’t here, you really missed out on a night packed with the best music and people Toronto has to offer. Check out the photos by Josh Moody here! Huge thanks to The Little Black Dress, Like Pacific, Partycat and Teenage Kicks for tearing it up on stage. Branko even auctioned his clothing (read: dignity) to raise extra… never change, bud.

Special guest DJs Mensa, Branko + Tyler and Rob Dyer came out afterwards to keep the energy going right past last call. Every single damn one of you there generously donated your time and energy to make Brother! a huge success.

We’re a community. If you’ve spent night after night on stage, in the crowd, working or eating here, you’re part of it. THANK YOU.

My Ticket Home Take A Tour Pit Stop At Dee’s

Ever wonder what it’s like to spend a day in a puke rock band? Me neither!

But we gotta give it to My Ticket Home for filming 24 hours of hardcore mayhem in Toronto. You bet that includes a wild nacho-eating, beer-guzzling session here at Dee’s. Man these Ohio guys know how to party.

After loading up, they rolled out their gear and guts to The Opera House for hundreds of fans who piled in from all over Ontario. Check out the recap below! There’s no puke. Really.
